Happy Father's Day Weekend!

This will probably be my last post from the US for a while! Today I will be finishing up with work and then heading to a Mom's Night Out with the Latin Family Connection group. I have learned so much already from this group of moms -- most with children from Guatemala. Tomorrow we are celebrating Father's Day with my parents and Sunday with Robby's parents. Then I will be leaving for Guatemala bright and early Monday morning! I should arrive around 11:45 (their time -- two hours behind our time) and meet Cohen at the attorney's office at 12:15!!!

In honor of Robby's first Father's Day, I thought I would post of few pictures of my two boys during our visit trip. I know some first time dads are a little nervous about their new role, but being a dad just comes naturally for Robby. He changed diapers like a champ and always had that magic touch for getting Cohen to sleep. Robby is going to be one of those dads who not only makes it to every soccer game, but coaches the team. I know I have to soak up every minute of being with Cohen in Guatemala, because once we come home I have a feeling he is going to be Daddy's Boy for sure!

Lori -you posted on my blog and I wanted to give you an update on church. We attended Vida y Fe this morning. It was a very spiritual service, but EXTREMELY loud! We only stayed for the music (one hour). I really didn't think it was healthy for baby ears, although Baby loved it!

I have heard of another Christian church, which we might try next Sunday. Hey, if nothing else, we might hold English services at my apartment.

Best wishes on your journey. We've only been in Antigua for 2 weeks, but we'd be glad to help if we can.

Lori, congrats on your Antigua stay. Wishing you, your mom, and Cohen, and of course hubby well. Hope all has gone smoothly and you're in your apart by now.

Here is the info for Luis Ramirez I said I'd post. He speaks fluent English, from Antigua, and knows Guatemala areas well...educating me about its history, my birth mom's town, etc. If your child is from an area outside Guatemala City, he'll be happy to take you there, even to the G. C. hospital if you want.

Luis can be scheduled by emailing at vision@AntiguaGuatemala.com, or simply call him in Antigua at 5,795-2345. Please tell him Anita and Juana Claire with the long eyelashes referred you. He should remember us!

I used Luis on both trips and was more than satisfied with the service. He has worked with many adoptive parents. Make sure and ask for Luis for your tour portion, as other people also drive for them who do not speak English for airport pickup/delivery to hotels.

You could call him should you need anything and I bet he would be happy to help.

Also, tell him that you need a baby seat for the van when you arrange.

He took us to 3 towns above Antigua....Santa Maria de Jesus...a true walk back in time 1000s of years, with authentic Mayan market...very eye opening. This town sits right near the base of Aqua volcano I believe it is. Also to San Antonio and another town, can't remember name, close together. One has a wonderful textile tourism spot, beautiful handmade items, still fairly reasonable. There is also a small jade factory in one of the towns. A half-day tour was around $80 with tip I believe, well worth it.

I used Nancy Hoffman's too at www.AntiguaGuatemala.com. As I relayed, they are business partners (and ex's). Luis says you can arrange tours thru him or Nancy, it's the same cost, etc.

Enjoy! Will be checking your blog to see how things are going for you,

Anita
