Three Months Already!

Poor Leah, I've already gotten second-child syndrome! Last night Robby was talking to his mom on the phone and she said, "Isn't today the 28th? Leah is three months old!" Three months old and I haven't even sent out birth announcements! (Not going to happen I'm afraid.) So today I made sure that I dressed her in an adorable dress (given to her from Nana) and took some pictures.

Since I might not write this all down in a baby book, here's Leah at three months: She loves sitting in her bouncy chair and smiling at the toys that hang down. She is already such a talker. She says ooh, oh, boo, and goo all with the most beautiful smile on her face. And talk about an easy baby, last night I fed her at 8:30 and put her to bed. She slept until 8:00 this morning! Such an angel! (Does this mean she is going to make up for it during her teenage years?!)





And while Cohen has an equally perfect sleeping schedule, he goes non-stop all day! We are planning on getting him a playset for the backyard for his birthday and I am hoping it turns out the be an EARLY present because we both need it. :) Even though he is very active these days, he still enjoys some quieter activities. He loves puzzles, playdough, and his new Wheels on the Bus book his Aunt Amanda gave him.

Fun at the Airport

On Wednesday we headed to the airport to meet some friends who were bringing home their daughter from Guatemala. (I had chills walking into the airport just thinking about this time last year bringing Cohen home.) There was quite the party at the airport -- I think I counted eleven little ones waiting to welcome Eliana and her big brother Roberto.

We knew their flight was delayed, but we wanted to be sure we wouldn't miss them, so we ended up having plenty of time before they arrived. Here's how we kept everyone entertained for three hours at the airport. We watched all the airplanes outside -- Cohen cheered every time we saw one take off. The little girls loved watching Leah and were so sweet with her. One of the Nana's was a retired kindergarten teacher, so she had "Circle Time" with plenty of fun songs. Miss Holly read some Dora books and of course we had lots of snacks. When it was almost time for them to arrive, we lined all the kids up for a photo shoot.





At home Cohen has been loving his new lawnmower. He cracks me up the way he pushes it for a while and then stops to work on it. And Leah is still such a sweet, smiley baby. She enjoys her tummy time - especially when big brother gets on his stomach with her and makes her laugh!

Happy Forever Day, Cohen!

Today we celebrated Cohen's Forever Day -- it has been one year since he came home to be with us forever! As I think back, there are so many important dates. November 7th was the day we got the call that Cohen was born and saw his face for the very first time. March 19th was the day we held him in our arms for the very first time. June 18th was one of the best days of my life -- I arrived in Guatemala to stay with him until we could bring him home AND found out that our case was out of PGN. But what an amazing day August 15th was -- we brought Cohen home for good!

We will always celebrate this day as his Forever Day. We brought back special gifts from Guatemala so that he can receive one every year. I thought it would also be fun to fix one of our favorite foods from Guatemala -- tamales. Earlier this week I went to Luis' Market to get everything I needed to make them. I walked in with a recipe I found online, but after talking with two of the girls that worked there, decided to throw my recipe away and go by their instructions. Sounded like a great plan until I started cooking tonight...I didn't exactly read their entire recipe until tonight and realized that I don't own the steamer I needed to make the tamales. So a quick change of plans and we still had a delicious Guatemalan meal -- chicken, black beans, rice, and guacamole. Cohen's favorite part? The cake for dessert of course!

Cohen didn't get ALL the attention today. Leah made sure today was a special day for her as well. She rolled over for the first time! Although she loves sleeping on her stomach, her pediatrician told me not to let her until she could get in that position on her own. So when I put her down for her morning nap, I made sure she was safely sleeping on her back. When I checked on her after my shower I found her sleeping happily on her stomach!

Summer Fun!

We've been having a great time despite the hot, hot weather. Last Thursday we met up with some friends at Beef O'Brady's for our second fundraiser for a new orphanage in Guatemala. We tried and tried to take pictures of all the kids together, but after being good for an entire meal, they were all a little restless and ready to head home. Thanks to everyone who was able to come out and support the cause!

Saturday we joined the Latin Family Connection at the Zoo. It was so hot, so Cohen and Robby played in the Splash Park while Leah and I hung out in the shade. Cohen had a great time with his friends Sydney, Kaya, & Jenna! Such sweet girls!

Leah is making us very proud by sleeping through the night. She has been sleeping eight hours at night now and wakes up happy and smiley -- and so does her Mommy! She loves to watch Cohen and smiles when he takes her hands to play pat-a-cake.

Cohen loves being outside these days and his favorite places are the "poo" (pool) and the "pa" (park).
